Natural Movement and Yoga: Whole Body Biomechanics!
THIS WORKSHOP IS FULL.
More Date options will be added late 2021
Strengthen and stretch, stabilize and mobilize, unwind and unbind.
Practice natural movement with yoga through a lens of being aware of whole-body mechanics. Rooted in the groundbreaking work of Katy Bowman, Daryle Edwards, MovNat and hatha yoga this workshop is designed to help you restore balance, ground mobility, strength, flexibility, and hand-eye coordination. Enabling us to once again move freely, find more ease and accessibility.
Enjoy this opportunity to learn and practice positions and movements that are multi-planar and multi-joint movements using the entire body and the core musculature while breathing naturally. Build strength and mobility through moving and lifting your own body.
- Restorative and regenerative movements to support you in gaining range of motion, control over your movement, body and breath awareness and better joint alignment in order to do for more complex movements. As the workshop progresses, we will build and reinforce while we move through some practical yet more challenging natural movements.
- Practice natural breathing while moving and being still.
- Do ground movement*, jumping, walking and balancing, various types of crawling, getting up (without using your hands to push off the ground), rolling, rocking, sitting, kneeling, squatting, walking, stepping over, lifting, carrying, throwing and catching, jumping and more.
- Practice a repertoire of movement sequences that you can do anywhere!
*Note: Ground movement is all movements below a half-standing position, or your center of gravity below the level of your knees when standing.
